SPEAKERS: CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
How to participate
Participation in the different symposia can be done virtually (deferred presentation). Virtual participants will have to record a video defence of their proposal and formulate questions and answers during the days of the congress using the forum available for each of the published papers.
All papers will first undergo a peer review process.
Once the abstract of the paper has been accepted (acceptance will be communicated to the authors on 19 July) the platform will be enabled for the registration of the authors and they will have to register themselves and select the profile they are, ASSISTANT to see all the content and participate in the room debates within each symposium or SPEAKER to create discussion rooms in which to upload your video and assign other speakers associated with the presentation as well as debate in the rest of the symposiums on the platform .
Abstracts submission guidelines
- Abstracts should be up to 400 words, written in English, Portuguese or Spanish and uploaded in the platform.
- Include: Introduction, objectives, methodology, discussion, results, conclusions. If the research requires it, some of the sections may be omitted.
- It should not include bibliography, acknowledgements or sponsors.
- 3-5 keywords
- Each communication can have a maximum of 4 signatories who must be correctly registered in the congress.
- You can participate as an author in a maximum of 3 papers and each paper can have a maximum of 4 authors
- All accepted abstracts will be published in the Proceedings Book.

Full papers
The scientific committee will select the most relevant presentations to be published as full papers in a high impact journal. Participation in the book is included in the registration fee and is guaranteed, although the editorial coordinators may request changes or improvements to the texts in order to preserve the scientific quality of the final work and the texts must adhere to the established rules and deadlines.
The best contributions may be submitted for consideration in the publication of the special issue.Processes of Digitization in Africa and Asia: Gender, Development and Societies Intertwined” to be published in the prestigious journal Gender, Technology and Development, Q1 in JCR during the year 2025.
Registration fees
- Early registration fee. Until 20 September 2024: 165€
- General registration fee. from 21 September to 17 October 2024. 195€
Prices include VAT. All authors of a paper must be registered and have paid the fee in order to participate in the congress and publications.
Payment will be made on the congress platform itself by credit or debit card / Paypal / bank transfer. The registration platform will open on 19 July 2024.

Research Problem:
Digitalization is seen as a driver of socioeconomic progress globally, impacting various aspects of life since the late 20th century. While European strategies, including those from Spain, leverage digitalization for development and equality, Africa and Asia face unique challenges and opportunities in this digital transformation. Accessibility and socio-cultural compatibility are critical issues, as highlighted by Toyin Falola: “You cannot talk about bridges without talking about the culture of the people.”
Description:
This Special Issue in Gender, Technology and Development explores digital transition processes in Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa from a Social Sciences and Humanities perspective. It focuses on gender issues and socio-cultural diversity, examining the interplay between digitalization and development.
