Digitalization and Women’s Land Rights: A Strategy for Social and Economic Empowerment in Sudan
Great presentation! One notable example of art serving as a voice for youth in Sudan is the work of the “Sudanese Artists for Peace” collective. This group of young artists has used murals and street art to transform public spaces in Khartoum and other cities into vibrant canvases that depict themes of peace, unity, and hope. During the 2019 revolution, their artwork became a symbol of the people’s struggle and aspirations, capturing the attention of both local and international communities. These murals not only beautify the urban landscape but also serve as powerful reminders of the youth’s role in advocating for a peaceful and just society. Through their creative expressions, the Sudanese Artists for Peace have inspired many and contributed significantly to the ongoing dialogue about peace and reconciliation in Sudan.
Great presentation thanks. really helpful and applicable to Sudan, I would like to ask on the possible solutions for Women who do not have IDs (sometimes refugees, or people who live in rural communities) can we include them to the process of acuring mobile money?
Dear Emmanuel, Thank you for your comment, it is one the most important issues. to address the privacy issue, we used a GIS based application, we assigned focal point from the official Ministry staff who has the right to edit, also assigned a meember from community leaders t oreview and report any updates. the process is not easy yet utilizing technology helps alot in privacy and rights issues
Thank you Estefania, much appreciated. Your reflections are truly valid. for the software we have introduced open source applications such as QGIS, kobotoolbox mobile data collection app, and free satelitte imagery providers. We trained the technical staff of national governement and Youth from communities on utilizing these apps. For the hard components we equepped the National authorities with new and cost effective GPS and Real-time kinematic positioning RTK, the idea is to acuire equipments that might be less precise but it perfectly fit to purpose of exercise which is in planning level. Women inclucion is a process that needs advacacy, we have conducted number of community meetings, and sometimes according to context women focus groups to hear their voice then combine them to the rest ot the group.
