Community-based Health Insurance among Senegalese Migrants in Spain: The Impact of Transnational Online Groups
Thank you very much for your presentation of this very interesting project. You mention that the implementation of your initiative in Senegal was accompanied by a re-development of the methodology of Living Labs based on intercultural approach. I would like to ask if you could give some examples of such intercultural strategies that have been applied in the course of the implementation. Another issue that I find very interesting is connected with the Senegalese diaspora in Cataluña. Has it played any role in the development of the project?
Thank you very much for your presentation. In your exposition, you addressed the issue e-commerce as a tool that increases trade across borders. I wanted to ask you about the role of e-commerce platforms and tools in the context of migration and diasporas. Does the existence of potential producers and customers within diasporas influence the development of e-commerce mechanisms in different parts of Sub-Saharan Africa?
Thank you for your question. We conducted a total of 28 in-depth interviews with participants who are all members of Community-Based Health Insurance (CBHI), including individuals involved in managing the collected funds. The final sample encompasses a diverse range of participants in terms of administrative status, labor market insertion, sociodemographic profiles, and migration history. We did not include private health companies and corporations from our study, as we aimed to focus on the strategies employed by migrants who, largely due to economic and bureaucratic barriers, are unable to access health insurance provided by such organizations.
